President’s Message

Hunan International Economics University (HIEU) is a young and dynamic private university in Changsha, the provincial capital of southern China's Hunan Province. For as far back as 1000 years, Hunan has excelled in the area of education and leadership training. Today, the traditions of yore and hidden gems of the old cultural city are given a modern dimension via economic progress and modern transport facilities.

Located in Changsha's national high-tech industrial park, HIEU covers an area of 1,132,200 m2 and the scenic campus boasts an extensive array of facilities to support the 11 schools, including specialized language corners, 11 canteens including a Halal canteen for Muslims, Olympic-size track-field, swimming pool, golf range, basketball courts and much more.

HIEU has been consistently ranked among the top 3 private institutions of higher education in China since 2005. In 2012, HIEU along with seven other institutions was rated a 5-star university.
The 27,000 students and 1,700 teaching and administrative staff at HIEU hail from all over China. With 11 secondary colleges, 34 undergraduate specialties and 14 junior-college specialties, HIEU, strives to develop job-ready graduates who are ready to work in any global setting.

HIEU joined the Laureate International Universities network in 2010, which accelerated its internationalization process with a widened global footprint. The doors of HIEU have welcomed scores of distinguished visitors from around the world including the winners of the U.S. Presidential Award, officials and former members of Congress, foreign emissaries, and captains of the industry.
