Brochure for International Students

Location

HIEU is located in Changsha city of Hunan province, a well-known historical and cultural city with a history of more than two thousand years. Hunan is a multiethnic province. Since ancient time, various minority nationalities and Han nationality have been communicating with each other, depending on each other, and living harmoniously on this beautiful land of Xiang.

Changsha is the capital city of Hunan province. It boasts over-thousand-year-old Yuelu Academy and Mawangdui Han Dynasty Tombs, bamboo slips of Wu in ancient Three Kingdoms. Yuelu Academy is one of the four great academies in ancient China, the earliest university in China and one of the oldest universities in the world. Another famous scenery is Orange Islet, which surrounded by water on all sides and covered with a large number of trees, the islet resemble, when viewed from a distance, a giant green warship sailing against the tide to guard the ancient city of Changsha. When Mao Zedong was young, he always came here to walk, swim, and have sun bath on the beach.

In the modern and contemporary history of China, Hunan has given birth to generations of great men riding on the crests of the tides, such as the late Chairman Mao Zedong, the late Deputy Chairman Liu Shaoqi, former Premier Zhu Rongji, and the late hero Lei Feng and so on. Changsha’s geographic location is excellent with Yangtze River and Dongting Lake (including scenery spots as Yueyang Tower) to the north and Hengshan Mountain to the south (one of China's Five Sacred Mountains). It takes only several hours by train to the world heritage---Zhangjiajie National Geographic Park. Zhangjiajie is known as "nature labyrinth" where "each step takes one into a whole new world of breathtaking beauty."
