Information Technology & Engineering

The School of Information Technology and Engineering is a merger of the School of Electrical and Information Engineering and School of Computer Science and Technology. In the field of Electrical and Information Engineering, the School offers "Digital Electronic Technique," and the "Electrical Engineering and Electronic Technique Practical Teaching Center of Hunan International Economics University," which is a provincial practical teaching demonstration center.

In 2009 the School was authorized as Hunan's only national electronic professional evaluation center by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Additionally, the School has 23 specialized laboratories and has set up 19 off-campus practice teaching bases with Dongguan Konka Electronic Co. Ltd., Hunan Create Technology Co. Ltd. and other enterprises. The School pays special attention to the cultivation of talent. To date, 72 students have enrolled at Central South University, Sichuan University and other famous universities for postgraduate education, reaching a postgraduate enrollment rate of 15.9%. The employment rate of graduates within 6 months of completion is consistently above 92%.

The School boasts a provincial excellent teaching award, a provincial excellent course and a provincial excellent teaching and research section. "Computer Software and Theory" is a university-level key discipline of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan, while "Computer Application Technology" is a university-level key discipline of the Twelfth Five-Year Plan.

More than 30 specialized laboratories for computer science have been established. In association with Hunan Software Testing Center, PhaseOne, Chinasoft International (Changsha), Changsha High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, and other enterprises and institutions, numerous off-campus practice bases have been constructed, and on campus, students are offered training bases for software technology, network technology and embedded systems.

The teaching programs and curriculum keep pace with the development of the IT industry and the needs of the economy. The students have been highly evaluated by many companies, including Huawei, Xiangcai Securities, Taobao, Thunder, Kingdee, Tencent and Talkweb, and enjoy extensive career prospects, a high specialty-career fitting rate and high wages. Over the years, the employment rate has remained above 96.5%. Many of the graduates have been admitted to the University of Science and Technology of China, Central South University, Zhongshan University, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Hunan University, Hunan Normal University, South China University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen University and other prestigious universities for their master’s degrees.
